Ryan Welch is a senior Honors student graduating this May with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Ryan shared future plans, favorite Honors Program memories, and advice for incoming Honors students. Read below to hear about Ryan’s Honors journey.
- What are your future plans?
“I am pursuing my M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame.”
2. What is your favorite Honors Program memory?
“My favorite Honors Program memory was the Honors Retreat during my freshman year. It was a great opportunity to meet and connect with so many other new students, many of whom I continued to talk to and work with throughout my time at NIU.”
3. How did being part of the Honors Program help you during your time here at NIU?
“The Honors Program played a fundamental role in my success at NIU, especially when it came to planning my courses and having the ability to register early. My Honors Fellow was always there to answer questions and served as a great role model throughout my time in the program.”
4. What piece of advice to you have to new students starting in the Honors Program?
“Stay connected to the Honors Program and attend as many events as you can. You will learn so much, build meaningful connections, and meet so many amazing people.”
