Graduating Senior Thoughts: Nadiyah Johnson

Nadiyah Johnson is graduating with a degree Biochemistry and Full University Honors.

“I am filled with gratitude and pride. The Honors Program has been a significant part of my academic journey, shaping who I am both inside and outside the classroom.

From day one, the program introduced me to a community of curious and driven individuals. We’ve shared countless hours of studying, late-night discussions, and collaborative projects. The late nights staying up studying and eating food together have become cherished memories, and through these experiences, I’ve learned the true meaning of perseverance, dedication, and the importance of supporting one another.

One of my most profound memories is from an honors course called “Disability in Film.” Every week, I spent 2-4 dollars renting movies on YouTube to watch these various films that moved me to tears, laughter, heartache, and joy. This class, like many others, instilled life lessons, broadened my perspectives, and encouraged me to think outside the box. That’s the essence of these courses—to expand our mindsets, equip us with new skills, and prepare us to navigate life’s diverse situations.

I want to take a moment to thank my loving parents, family, and mentors for their unwavering encouragement and love. Without their support, I wouldn’t be where I am today, achieving the honor of accomplishing my dreams. They have stood by me, offering wisdom, guidance, and understanding during both the triumphs and challenges.

As we move forward, let’s carry the lessons we’ve learned and the bonds we’ve formed into the next chapter of our lives. Let’s continue to strive for excellence, seek knowledge with curiosity, and contribute to our communities with kindness and integrity.

Thank you for being a part of this unforgettable journey. Together, we have achieved great things, and I am confident that the future holds even greater possibilities for all of us.”
