University Honors Program 2024 Engagement Award Recipients

Each year, the University Honors Program selects one student from each class who exemplifies high honors engagement for special recognition. These students combine academic excellence with outstanding involvement in a range of campus and service activities and manifest a strong personal commitment to the University Honors Program.

Join us in congratulating this year’s Engagement Award recipients!

Freshman: Almuthanna Shihab

Almuthanna is a Computer Science (Enterprise Software) major and completed eight experiences this year. Almuthanna shared that he has had an awesome time using his academic knowledge in a work-like environment thanks to Honors Engaged, and his favorite experience was the Barsema Leadership Boot Camp.

Sophomore: Becca Katz

Becca is a History Education major and completed five experiences this year. Becca shared that she has enjoyed the connections with faculty and students alike that she has made so far through the Honors Engaged experiences, and her favorite experience was her Theatre Production.

Junior: Fabrice Kitungano

Fabrice is an Electrical Engineering major and completed six experiences this year. Fabrice shared that by participating in Honors Engaged, he has had the privilege of experiencing unparalleled opportunities for intellectual growth, personal development, and networking. His favorite experience was the Barsema Leadership Boot Camp.

Senior: Osel Lopez

Osel is a Psychology major and has completed four experiences this year. Osel shared that Honors Engaged has allowed her to have many experiences and reflect on them to see the deeper meaning, and that her favorite experience was the Alternative Spring Break Trip in 2023.
